The Francigena in Colle di Val d'Elsa
A fascinating experience along stage no. 32
Walking along the Via Francigena is an exciting experience: step by step, you can discover the area from a new perspective, admire evocative landscapes and encounter new people along the way.
The Via Francigena is an ancient route that connected Northern Europe to Southern Italy. In the area of Colle di Val d’Elsa, the Francigena crosses numerous places of natural, cultural and tourist interest. Historical records confirm that Colle di Val d’Elsa lay along the original route; today, Stage No. 32 connects San Gimignano to Monteriggioni, passing through Colle di Val d’Elsa along the official route.
Several itineraries are also available, both linear and circular, to choose from.
In this proposal, we suggest the route passing through Badia a Coneo, a splendid Romanesque complex immersed in the magnificent Tuscan countryside.
